Beauty Practices I Still Swear By as a Retired Aesthetician

After a past as an aesthetician I’ve learned less can be so much more. Consistency matters most when it comes to internal and external beauty.

Here are the practices I still keep in my routine and love:

What I put into my body

Real food and rest make my skin glow. I used to struggle with awful acne but it cleared when I nourished myself instead of eating garbage. Alcohol makes me puffy so I avoid it. Sugar shows up instantly on my face. Being kind to my body in this way really changed everything.

Hydration

Drinking more water than you think you need supports everything else. Repairing your skin barrier also starts with external hydration. Stay away from too many active ingredients and a great moisturizer, trust me.

Silk pillowcases

Gentle on skin and hair. They make bedtime feel intentional and have genuinely elevated my nighttime routine.

Facial massage

I move lymph gently and take my time. Facial massage helps with circulation, puffiness, and grounding. I often write affirmations on my bathroom mirror which has helped me truly feel beautiful.

Dermaplaning

Occasional and gentle. Removes buildup, improves product absorption, and makes my makeup look seamless. Not to mention this makes my skin care products absorb into my skin super well.

Castor oil for lash growth

Simple habit, consistent results. The growth is unreal.

Nighttime lip mask

Waking up with soft nourished lips? Yeah it’s amazing.

Scalp massage with jojoba oil

Slow and intentional. I press jojoba oil into my scalp and hair ends to protect against dryness and breakage. It promotes circulation and feels like a nervous system reset after a long day of my daughter rising my blood pressure.

SPF every day

Non negotiable. Sun protection is long-term respect for the skin, no matter who you are.

These beauty rituals are just a few ways I put love into myself. I hope these beauty tips help you as much as they help me.
