In our home, health is about the little choices we make every day that help us feel good, stay strong, and feel our best.
Here are the rules we live by:
Hot Water Every Morning
Starting the day with hot water helps kickstart digestion, hydrate the body, and set a mindful tone for the day. A little bit of Celtic salt in your hot water for extra hydration and electrolytes goes a long way. I can’t believe there was a time when I used to start my day without hot water.
Open Windows and Air Purifiers
For cleaner air circulation in our home we open windows as much as weather permits and we use an air purifier. For fresh smell we use an essential oil diffuser and non toxic candles. Unnatural fragrance messes with our hormones.
Limited Blue Light
We tend to steer clear of blue light as much as possible, which gives us less migraines and better focus altogether.
Nuts and Seeds Daily
Almonds, chia, sunflower seeds, and more provide healthy fats, protein, and essential nutrients. Incorporating nuts and seeds into your diet is easier than you think and very beneficial.
Loose Leaf Teas
Brewing loose leaf tea is more than hydration, it is a moment of calm and self-care. If you love tea, consider ditching your tea bags full of harmful plastic and switch over to loose leaf.
Whole Foods First
Focusing on real, unprocessed foods ensures our bodies get the nutrition they need. Put life into your body and you will notice a difference.
Stainless Steel Cookware
Only using stainless steel keeps our meals pure and avoids harmful chemicals. Plus, stainless steel is much easier to clean! We also use wooden cooking utensils and cutting boards.
Clean-Ingredient Products
My husband and I both go for clean ingredient perfume brands. Oddly enough, I get intense migraines from regular perfumes. We both use aluminum free deodorants as well, and my armpits are much happier. Lastly, we use sensitive/fragrant free laundry detergent so our clothing doesn’t harm our bodies.
No Plastic in Food Prep
Glass, stainless steel, and silicone are our go-to for storage and cooking to protect our health. Throw out or donate your plastic. Thank me later.
Polyester Free Clothing
We try our best to purchase clothing with real material. Polyester is not breathable like natural fibers. We lean more toward linen and 100% cotton materials. Thrifting and buying second hand at non profit organizations is a great way to find good materials.
Lymphatic Drainage Facial Massage
As a former aesthetician, I know the power of self-care on the skin. Daily facial massage helps reduce puffiness, improve circulation, and give a natural glow. You’ll feel stress melting away.
These rules are simple, but they make a big difference. They are habits that help us feel nourished, grounded, and cared for every day.
I’d encourage my readers to contemplate some of these health rules we choose to live by.
