Becoming Her: The Health Habits I’m Choosing in This Season

As a young woman and a mom, I’ve realized there are some big changes I needed to make for myself. Not only was all my hair falling out but I was truly falling apart. For a long time, I was just surviving, eating whatever was quick, and pouring everything into everyone else while leaving nothing for me. I knew I didn’t want to live there forever. I want to grow in motherhood. I wanted to become her, and here’s how I did it…

Fueling My Body

I prioritize protein, cook with whole foods, and only have refined sugar occasionally. Eating more protein helped my hair flourish. This isn’t about restriction, it’s about energy and honoring the body that carried life.

Supporting My Body

Supplements and vitamins help me feel strong and clear-headed. Being a mom is demanding, and I want to feel well. This may be controversial but I don’t drink alcohol in order for my health to thrive.

Moving My Body

For the longest time, I was too afraid to go to the gym. I thought my body wasn’t enough and that I didn’t belong there. Now I’ve silenced those voices. Most days I hit the gym. Other days I walk in the neighborhood or park. Movement clears my mind and reminds me I am capable.

Centering Myself

A few quiet moments of prayer and gratitude each day help me focus on what I do have and ground me for the day ahead.

Doing It Differently

I want my daughter to see a woman who takes care of herself, fuels her body, moves it, and thanks God for it. I can finally say I’m proud of myself. This season isn’t about becoming smaller. It’s about becoming stronger, clearer, and more intentional.

It’s about becoming her.
